When an improved analysis is available
Why the analyses you already have stay exactly as they are when CurTask's analyses improve, and how to refresh them after you have seen the cost.
CurTask keeps improving the way it analyses papers. When it does, the analyses you already have are never redone behind your back. They stay exactly as they were, with their pages and quotes, until you decide to refresh them and have seen what it costs.
Why nothing changes on its own
An analysis you have read, checked and used in your matrix or your writing is part of your research record. If it changed silently, a value you had already cited could change under you, and you would be charged for work you did not ask for. So an older analysis stays in the paper's Baggage and keeps working everywhere, at no cost to reuse.
How you can tell
When some of a paper's analyses were made with an older version:
- In the paper's Overview tab, those sections of the AI paper profile carry an Improved analysis available badge. When you refresh one, the new version starts as Suggested, even if you had accepted the older one.
- The Baggage tab shows a note, Improved analysis available, with a Refresh… button. In the timeline, the older analyses are marked in a different colour.
- In the literature matrix, a value made for an earlier version of a column is marked Outdated (that one is about the column's question changing, see Change what a column looks for).
Refresh one paper
- Open the paper and choose the Baggage tab.
- Choose Refresh…. The Refresh with the improved analysis sheet shows what it will cost before anything runs.
- Choose Refresh to go ahead, or close the sheet to keep things as they are.
The new analyses appear in the Baggage when they are ready. The older versions are kept: the timeline shows how many (older version kept).
Refresh a whole project
In a project's Library, open the More actions menu (the three dots beside Discover papers) and choose Refresh outdated analyses in this project. You can also select some papers and choose Refresh outdated in the selection bar.
The sheet says how many analyses in how many papers were made with an older version. Refreshing replaces only those; nothing else is recomputed. If everything is current, it says so and there is nothing to pay.
Analyses in the other language
An analysis made in English is not the same as one in Bahasa Melayu. If a paper's analysis exists only in the other language, the AI paper profile offers New version in your project's language. It is a new analysis, so you see its cost first, like any other. See The project's AI language.
Tip: you never have to refresh. An older analysis keeps its pages and quotes and goes on working in every project.
