The Writing lens is where your review takes shape. A manuscript is made of sections that you add and arrange in the Structure panel. As you write, you cite papers by typing @, and CurTask formats every citation and reference list in the style you choose. Everything saves as you type, even offline.

Step 1Add your first section
In your project, open the Writing lens. A new manuscript says Start your manuscript: choose Add the first section. It is called "Introduction" to begin with; click the title to change it.
Add more sections later with + Section at the top of the Structure panel on the left.

Step 2Write
Click in the page and start writing. Type / for Commands such as headings, lists and quotes, or use the formatting buttons above the text. Every change saves by itself; ⌘/Ctrl+S is never needed.
The bar at the bottom shows the section's words, the words written in this session, and how many citations it has.

Step 3Type @ to cite a paper
Where the citation should go, type @ (or press @ Cite). A small search opens: type an author, a word of the title or a year. Papers In this project come first, then the rest of your Global Library. Choose a paper, or press Enter for the first one.
The citation appears in your text, formatted in the manuscript's style.

Step 4Add a page
Click the citation in your text. A small panel opens with the paper's title. Type the page in Page or locator, for example "4", and the citation shows it at once.

Step 5Choose how the citation reads
In the same panel, choose (Author, year) for a citation in brackets, or Author (year) to name the authors in your sentence. From there you can also Add a paper to the citation, or Remove citation.

Step 6Pick a citation style
Use the Citation style menu at the top of the page. You can choose APA (7th edition), MLA (9th edition), Chicago (author-date), Harvard (Cite Them Right), IEEE, Nature, AMA (11th edition) or ACS. Every citation in the manuscript changes at once.
Below each section, its references are listed in that style. Under them, Whole manuscript counts every paper cited so far; open it to see the full list. The full reference list goes into your file when you compile the manuscript.
