Concept
\"Suggested\": you stay the author
Every AI value, code, theme or sentence waits, marked Suggested, until you accept it; only what you accept feeds the next steps.
CurTask's AI does the legwork: it reads your papers, fills matrix columns, suggests codes and themes, and drafts short pieces of text. But nothing it makes becomes part of your research until you say so. Until then it is marked Suggested.
You are the researcher and the author. The AI proposes; you accept, edit or dismiss.
Where you see "Suggested"
Anything the AI produced and you haven't accepted yet carries the word Suggested (or a small ✦ mark), for example:
- A paper's AI paper profile. Each part (summary, methods, sample and context, findings, limitations, theory and framework, key quotes) is Suggested until you choose Accept at the end of it. See Paper details.
- Matrix values. After the AI fills a column, the message says the values are "marked Suggested until you accept them". See Review and accept matrix values.
- Coded passages. In the coding strips, AI suggestions show as ✦ suggested, and no passage is coded until you accept it.
- Themes, categories and links on the Synthesis Map. Accept the ones you agree with; the rest stay suggestions.
- Text in your draft. A quote, citation or comparison the AI inserts goes in as Suggested. "Accept it in the text to keep it."
- Your project's problem statement and keywords, drafted from your answers when you start a project.
- A synopsis on the Corkboard: Suggested synopsis.
What accepting means
When you accept a suggestion, it becomes yours, just like something you typed. You can also edit it first: your edited version is what counts.
Dismissing a suggestion removes it. Nothing else changes.
Only accepted work moves forward
CurTask builds each step on the one before, and it builds only on what you accepted:
- The writing sidebar, Check my citations and Find support start from the matrix values, codes and themes you accepted, never from ones still Suggested.
- A matrix value you cite while it is still Suggested goes into your draft marked Suggested too, until you accept it there. See Cite from the matrix.
- When you compile a manuscript, AI text you haven't accepted is left out, and the compile window tells you how many words that is. See Compile your manuscript.
So a suggestion you never looked at can't slip into your thesis.
Every suggestion shows its source
A suggestion is easier to judge when you can see where it came from. Every AI value comes with the page and the quote it rests on, and when there is no source, CurTask says No source found instead of guessing. Read How CurTask's AI finds evidence.
Your choices stay yours
What you accept, edit or dismiss stays in your account, and the AI providers CurTask uses never train on your data. See What is sent to AI, and what never is.
