Every paper in CurTask has a details panel. It opens beside your library, so you can keep the list in view while you read about one paper. It has five tabs: Overview, Tags & Notes, Metadata, Baggage and Connections.

  1. Choosing a paper opens its details beside the list

    Step 1Open a paper

In your Global Library or a project's Library, choose a paper's title. Its details open on the right.

At the top are the paper's type and year, its title, and three small buttons: the star, Pin drawer (keeps the panel open while you work in the list) and Close.

At the bottom are the actions: Open in reader and, inside a project, Cite, Add to matrix and Start coding.

  2. The Overview tab with the AI paper profile and its page links

Step 2Overview: the paper at a glance

The Overview tab shows the authors, the journal and the DOI, your tags (choose Tag to add one) and a Rating of up to five stars.

Below them is the AI paper profile, marked with ✦ because the AI wrote it: a summary with key findings, then methods, sample and context, findings, limitations, theory and framework, and key quotes. Every value has a page link such as p.6. Point at it to see the quote; choose it to open the reader at that page with the quote highlighted.

Each part of the profile says Suggested until you accept it. When you have checked a part against its pages, choose Accept at the end of that part; it then says Accepted. Changed your mind? Choose Back to Suggested. Accepting is free and runs nothing again. It belongs to the paper, so it travels with it into every project. An improved analysis of that part starts as Suggested again. See "Suggested": you stay the author.

Parts not analysed yet are listed under Not analysed yet:, with an Expand analysis button. See Analyse a paper with AI. The paper's Abstract comes last.

  3. The Tags & Notes tab

Step 3Tags & Notes: your own words

Tags are shared across all your projects. Type in Add a tag… or choose one of the tags Suggested from keywords.

Notes are yours alone and never sent to the AI. Inside a project, choose Note to write one for that project. See Paper notes and project notes and Organise with tags and stars.

  4. The Metadata tab

    Step 4Metadata: the paper's details

The Metadata tab holds the document type, title, authors, journal, year, volume, issue, pages, DOI, abstract and keywords. Every change saves by itself.

Choose Look up details again to check them against the research catalogues. At the bottom, Preview · APA 7 shows the reference as it will appear in your writing. See Fix a paper's title, authors or year.

  5. The Baggage tab

Step 5Baggage: everything learned about it

The Baggage tab is a timeline of what CurTask knows about the paper: its AI analyses, where its details came from, how its text was read, and the projects it is used in. Reusing its analyses in another project costs 0 credits to reuse. See Baggage.

  6. The Connections tab

Step 6Connections: references and citing papers

The Connections tab lists the paper's References and the papers that cite it (Cited by), found from its DOI. Choose + Import beside one to add it to your library. Used in shows the projects the paper is in.

Only the DOI is used to look these up, nothing about you or your notes. See Follow citations.
