Step by step
Write notes on a paper
Keep your own notes on a paper, one project at a time. They save as you type, sync to your other devices and are never sent to the AI.

Notes are your own thoughts about a paper: what to check, how it relates to your study, what to cite it for. Each note belongs to a project, so the same paper can carry different notes in different projects.
Notes are private. They are never sent to the AI, and no one else can see them. See Private by default.

Step 1Open Tags & Notes
In a project's Library, open the paper and choose the Tags & Notes tab. Under Notes you see the notes for this project, marked with the project's name and only.

Step 2Write a note
Choose Note. A small editor opens: type your note. There is no Save button, the note saves as you type and appears on your other devices too.

Step 3Go back to the list
Choose All notes to go back. Each note shows when it was last changed and its first lines. Choose a note to open it again. The tab's name shows how many notes the paper has, and so does the Notes column of the library.

Step 4Delete a note
Open the note and choose Delete note, then Delete note again to confirm. It is removed from this project on every device, and this can't be undone.
Step 5Notes in the Global Library
In your Global Library, the same tab shows the paper's notes from every project, grouped by project. When the paper is in more than one project, Note asks which project the new note belongs to.
What's next
- Organise with tags and stars: tags, unlike notes, are shared across all your projects.
- Baggage: a paper's Baggage counts its notes and shows which project each belongs to.
